Assistant Dean of Residential Life

The Priory School seeks a full-time Assistant Dean of Residential Life to support and strengthen the Priory’s diverse and growing boarding community. This position is responsible for long-range planning as well as day-to-day implementation of Residential Life policies, protocols, and practices. The hours are primarily evenings, with periodic weekend responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reflect the Mission of Woodside Priory School and the Residential Life Program to the dormers and their families. 
  • Provide a positive atmosphere that fosters the development of residential students in accordance with the Mission and objectives of Woodside Priory School.
  • Work as the active administrator on duty Sunday-Thursday 3:00-9:00 PM, with on- call hours from 9:00-8:00 AM.
  • Oversee Support Study Hall. Create study plans for all students in need of extra academic support. Monitor progress and do weekly checkins with each student.
  • Create and manage the Student Activities committee, plan and organize all weekend activities for students, and coordinate with RFs on duty running the activities.
  • Respond to urgent situations and emergencies as they arise during weekday shifts.
  • Hold the dorm phone and respond to all phone calls and texts from 3:00 PM - 8:00 AM Sunday -Thursday
  • Be an active member of the broader Priory community as demonstrated by attending games, plays, concerts, and competitions that happen after school hours.
  • Provide coverage for Residential Faculty to take required meal breaks during shifts.
  • Manage the health fridge, holiday celebrations and decor, birthday celebrations, and other special events throughout the year.
  • Plan and execute all dorm “Community Days” with support from the RFs and DRL
  • Create a calendar for Duty Shifts each quarter
  • Support the Dean of Residential Life In hiring, training and managing Residential Faculty and the selection and training of student leaders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with students In a residential setting, boarding school experience preferred 
  • Ability to make significant contributions to the larger life of the school
  • Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record required
